About

ffJoan Lompart
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Full Circle Therapy LLC is located in Burnsville, MN.

I provide therapy services to individuals, couples, and families. As a licensed marriage and family therapist my goal is to guide each client according to their specific needs. Providing a safe environment doing using: client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy for couples, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and Pia Mellody's recovery work.

I offer the counseling session life experience, humor, and intuition; this combined with my counseling experience creates richness in each session. I am married and have two grown children. Life is a journey full of transitions and changes and I believe each of us needs support along our journey. I would be honored to join you in your journey!

As a marriage and family therapist I look at all relationships in the family and outside support systems. “The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.” When one person in a family is having problems it effects the whole family; when one family member changes, the whole family has to change.

Educational Background:

  • Masters in Psychology and Counseling from St. Mary's University.
  • Post graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary's Unversity.
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and Families.

  • Trained with Pia Mellody in recovery work at The Meadows Recovery Center in Arizona.

Services

Full Circle Therapy LLC is located in Burnsville, MN. We provide therapy services to individuals, couples, and families. As a licensed marriage and family therapist Joan's goal is to guide each client according to their specific needs in a safe environment, using client-centered therapy. Listed below are specific areas of counseling services we offer.

In-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medical Assistance. All other insurances out-of-network and clients need to consult with their insurance customer service about benefits . Out of pocket payments are another option for those who do not wish to have insurance records. Please contact us for more information.

  • Information & Referral When my services do not meet your needs or another service will enhance your experience recommendations will be made.
  • Individual and Family Therapy I work with individuals with grief, depression, and anxiety to more fully experience life. Families are often seen with teenage concerns.
  • Couple and Marriage Counseling EFT or Emotionally Focused Therapy by Susan Johnson is used to demonstrate the couples dance or negative cycle that they get caught in; and to learn how to show up in the relationship and know your partner is accessible, responsive and engaged.
  • Depression and Anxiety Assessment Guidelines from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) help to assess if a client is suffering from Depression or Anxiety. Goals will be discussed as to best alleviate client's symptoms.
  • Grief and Loss The only way to recover from grief and loss is to acknowledge it and work through it at the client's pace. Grief is not a linear process but, one that people experience shock, disbelief, anger, sadness, acceptance at varying times and periods of life. Grief can feel like one step forward and two steps back. Grief lasts as long as it lasts! Complicated grief is more difficult to heal when a trauma was involved in the loss of a loved one.
  • 12-Step Recovery After studying with Pia Mellody on her model of Developmental Immaturity it makes sense how people suffer from inauthentic living. Addictions need to be treated before the rest of the client's spiritual and emotional self can heal. Using Pia's model for recovery is an essential tool.
  • Family of Origin We learn from our family of origin how to relate in the world. Sometimes the way we learned was not healthy and we need to relearn ways of relating to others to enhance our relationships. Through the use of the venogram we begin to explore the client's family.
  • Spirituality For client's willing to explore their spirituality, discussions are encouraged and books are recommended.
  • Parenting Often parents are not on the same page when it comes to discipline. Children are well aware of this and will use it to pit the parents against one another. Learning to parent as a team, so the kids don't get the best of you is helpful.
  • Workshops and Seminars Talks on Grief, Divorce, Depression, and the Teenage Brain are available.

Genogram

What is a Genogram?

Like a family tree a Genogram gives us family history.

In family assessments, a Genogram helps discover patterns that may have repeated over time. This sample Genogram is of a family looking at three generations. A venogram can include dates of marriages, divorces, remarriages and deaths. Their history notes family death, illness, and abuse and include names, ages and birth order of family members.

A genogram is a map of family history and not meant to keep us stuck in the past but rather to keep us moving forward in the present. It is visited off and on through sessions and linked to what is happening in the clients life today.

“When perfectionism is driving, shame is riding shotgun and fear is in the back seat.” “If we want to fully experience love and belonging, we must believe we are worthy of love and belonging.” Says Dr BRENÉ Brown a shame and vulnerability researcher and author.

BRENÉ dismisses the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and discovered that vulnerability is our most accurate measure of courage. When we are not open to vulnerability we miss opportunities that bring meaning and purpose to our lives.

Come and learn how to step into the arena bravely; with your values held close while using creativity to make meaning. We all fall and need to learn how to get back up.
